Decide whether the existing website is worth keeping

Choose Shoprocket when you already have useful pages and need to add selling to them. Choose Setka when the pages themselves are the work: deciding how the collection fits together, building product pages, and changing the presentation as the brand develops.

Setka is our product. We recommend it when the store itself needs to be created or substantially reworked, and you want to direct that work without maintaining a theme. Your brief and catalog guide the generated storefront; refinement, preview, publishing, and storefront versions stay inside the platform.

Shoprocket offers two storefront approaches

Shoprocket’s existing-website workflow lets you configure an embed and add its code snippet to a site. Its embed guide covers individual products, product groups, and cart placement.

It also offers a hosted storefront. The hosted-store guide describes a configurable editor with preview, product selection, images, and store information. You do not need a separate website to use Shoprocket.

For a shop inside a blog or editorial site, start with the embed. For a separate shop, compare the hosted editor with the store you could generate in Setka. Neither Shoprocket route requires you to rebuild a useful existing website just to sell.

What changes when the whole store is generated

Suppose you are launching a small collection of homeware. Your journal already explains how the pieces are made, but customers cannot buy from those pages. An article about choosing a serving dish can connect its advice to the relevant pieces, with dimensions and care information that help readers decide. Adding that product or collection embed is a focused job for Shoprocket. Keeping the journal preserves an explanation people can use, as well as pages you have already built.

Now suppose you have the products but no useful store pages. Write down three things the presentation must do: introduce the collection on the homepage, help shoppers distinguish its categories, and show dimensions and care details clearly on each product page. Try those tasks in Shoprocket’s hosted editor. You are checking whether its controls give you the store you want, not simply whether you can upload a product.

With Setka, use those same requirements in the brief. Review the generated pages, then make a specific request on a product page—for example, “Put the dimensions before the care instructions”—and edit the wording directly where precision matters. Preview and publish the approved storefront version. You can return to an earlier storefront version if the direction changes.

Then rehearse a later collection change: replace a featured dish, adjust the explanation for its intended use, and review the route from that explanation through the product, cart, and checkout on mobile and desktop. With an embed, the journal editor owns the surrounding advice while Shoprocket supplies the commerce layer. With Setka, the change request and storefront review stay inside the platform that runs the store.

The merchant still supplies accurate product information, approves the presentation, and configures the business’s shipping and tax rules. Setka’s value here is giving the founder a way to direct and revise the presentation without taking on its theme implementation.

Compare the monthly plans and the surrounding costs

Shoprocket’s pricing page, checked on 28 September 2026, lists these monthly prices:

PlanMonthly priceExamples of listed capabilities
Starter$29Embedded and hosted selling, product options and variations
Business$79Adds API access, Zapier, and abandoned-cart recovery
Plus$199Adds label-provider connections and third-party shipping rates

All three advertise 0% Shoprocket transaction fees; the selected payment gateway charges processing fees separately. The page offers yearly billing as a different option. Check the selected term rather than treating the monthly table as an annual quote.

Choose the Shoprocket tier from the job: API access or Zapier points to Business; the listed label-provider connections or third-party shipping rates point to Plus. A larger catalog alone does not force an upgrade—the pricing page advertises unlimited products on all three plans.

If you would otherwise build store pages around Shoprocket, Setka usually costs less in total: the store is built into the platform, so there is no separate website to build, host, and maintain. See current pricing. If you are keeping a website you already pay for, an embed adds only the Shoprocket plan to that bill.

Check product options before moving

Shoprocket’s pricing page also lists product options and variations. Setka supports product variants. If your catalog depends on particular size-and-color combinations, tell us at [email protected] before you move: requests go straight to the people building Setka.

Verify the transfer separately

Shoprocket documents product CSV export and order CSV export. An export file is not proof that another platform can import every field or preserve the complete history.

Before moving, take one exported product and one order as samples. List which fields must survive, which images and pages they refer to, and which integrations use them. Agree how those records will be handled in the new store before changing the domain. If you move to Setka, send those samples to [email protected], and we’ll work out the migration with you.

If the existing website is worth keeping, the embedded-commerce decision guide will help you assess that route. If you want the store built around your homeware, artwork, or other defined products, start your store in Setka. Bring the catalog and the three presentation requirements above; use the generated pages to decide what to refine next. The brief guide can help you prepare.
